Our new home: 46 acres in Owen Sound!

We are excited about our recent announcement about our new home. Read the Owen Sound Sun Times Interview with Kelsey Carriere.

Original Press Release:

Glassworks Cooperative, a registered not-for-profit and community-led organization focused on the ecological, social and economic sustainability of our region, is excited to announce its successful purchase of 46 acres of land on the East side of Owen Sound.

“We are delighted to have secured this gorgeous land and to hold it in a land trust,” says Sylvia Statham, Board Member of Glassworks and manager of St. Francis' Place, a leading provider of affordable housing in Grey County.

Glassworks Cooperative has been engaging members and stakeholders in co-designing for the site since January 2021, through its Community Design Series. Saugeen Elder Shirley John, Strong White Buffalo Woman, opened the series with a blessing, calling upon participants to work together as one.

More than 100 local individuals, partners and organizations are actively engaging in these collaborative design sessions to co-create the project.

Glassworks encourages new members and partners to attend upcoming meetings as we plan out the initial phases of the project.
